Wiki/Sessions/The Session Player

The Goonwall Player, in all its glory.

The Session Player puts your queue on screen across one slot or several in your chosen layout. Each slot has its own controls, and there’s a set of global controls that drive the whole wall at once. Here’s what all of them do.

Desktop & Tablet only — you will thank us.
The Session Player doesn’t run on phones. Open it on a screen under about 768px wide and it swaps the wall for a short note — “the multi-slot wall needs room to breathe”. Nothing is broken and nothing is lost. For a mobile gooning experience check out Goonwall Shorts.
Bits marked Pass are part of Goonwall Pass.
Everyone else gets the free tier. The locked controls stay visible, so you can see what they do.
STAGE 01
Set the wall up

There’s no separate setup screen. Open the player and you land on the rail’s home — “Choose your layout to begin”, with the mode selector, the layout dock and a 🔥 Start Session button. Pick a layout, pick where the wall feeds from, and start. What the session is actually about — categories, content type, performers — is set on the session itself over in the Session dropdown, not in here.

Nine layouts

Short version here — a layout unlocks on slot count, and free tops out at three: Triple is free. The long version has its own page.

Free
Single
1 slot
One clip, the whole screen.
Free
Dual
2 slots
Two at once, taste the split-screen magic.
Free
Triple
3 slots
Three across — the most the free tier will run at once.
Focus → Nine
3–9 slots
Focus, Quad, Mosaic, Six and Nine. Different counts, different arrangements.
Adaptive
4 slots, up to 9 tiles
A 2×2 that packs extra portrait clips into the empty space beside portrait video.

…and where the videos come from

Two play modes — Queue and Discover — plus a Collections tab that bulk-imports into the pool. Switch between them from the rail while you play.

Queue
Plays the session pool you built — the videos you deliberately picked, in your order. Needs at least one thing in the pool. It’s a complete way to run a session.
CollectionsPass
Not a third play mode but an import tab: pull a whole collection into the pool in one go, rather than adding videos one at a time. The wall then plays them through Queue.
Discover
An endless feed matching your session’s preferences. Nothing to queue up front — it keeps finding things for as long as you leave it running.
Nothing here is permanent. Layout and mode both live in the rail once you’re playing, so you can rearrange the wall without ending the session or losing your pool.
STAGE 02
Work one slot

Every slot on the wall is its own small control dock — pausing, muting, scrubbing and more, and none of them reach across to the others. Here’s what sits on each dock.

Play / pause
Plays or pauses this panel only. The rest of the wall carries on.
Volume & mute
Each slot keeps its own level. Adjust the volume per slot to your preference.
Seek bar
Hover the panel and grab the blue handle that appears at the bottom. Drag it to scrub through the clip.
Repeat
Loops the slot’s pool — when it reaches the end it wraps back to the start rather than advancing to nothing. A single-clip slot just replays that one clip.
Shuffle
Reshuffles this slot’s pool. The whole-wall shuffle does every slot at once; this one only disturbs the slot you’re on.
Up Next
Every slot carries its own pool of what’s coming. Open it to reorder, jump straight to something, or drop anything you’d rather not see.
Orientation — on the rail thumbnails
Each clip in the side rail wears a small circled letter. Handy on Adaptive Mosaic, where portrait clips are the ones that grow extra company.
P portrait·L landscape·S square
Rendition — top-right of the panel
The chip in a panel’s top-right shows the streaming rendition it’s playing, e.g. 720p. Each panel picks its version to fit its size.
STAGE 03
Drive the whole wall

The second set of controls sits in a bar below the videos and acts on everything at once, so you’re not clicking through every panel to do one thing.

Resume / Pause all
One button for the lot. Everything on the wall stops or resumes together.
Shuffle all
Reshuffles every slot’s pool at once. Individual slots have their own shuffle too, if you only want to disturb one of them.
Mute all
Silences the entire wall, useful when you want the soundtrack running on its own.
Auto-CyclePass
Rotates every slot on to its next clip on a timer. Pick the interval from the drop-up selector — 30, 45, 90 or 120 seconds. It respects Pause-All, so a paused wall stays put.
FillersPass
Adaptive Mosaic only. Turns the extra gap-filling clips off and on again without changing the layout you’re in.
Looking for Set all — the one-tap 15 / 30 / 50% level for every slot? That lives in the Audio DJ mixer, not the open wall.Audio DJ
Auto-Cycle, and how long you get Pass
Auto-Cycle is the hands-off mode: leave it on and every slot rolls to its next clip when the timer runs out. It respects Pause-All, so a paused wall stays put. The drop-up selector options are as follows:

Quality, ads and settings

The three things people ask about once the wall is already running.

Playback quality
Each panel streams a version sized to fit it, the same for everyone: small panels play lighter versions, and the biggest get the full picture.
Ads
Free sessions get one pre-roll ad when the session starts. One, at the top, then it leaves you alone. Pass sessions are ad-free Pass.
Session settings
Rename the session, change its icon, save it to a slot, set it as your default, or end it — all in one place, no separate save-slot picker. Free for everyone; how the slots themselves work is covered in Getting started.

FAQs

Why can’t I use this on my phone?
The wall needs the screen. Several video panels, each with their own controls, doesn’t survive contact with a phone — so the player is Desktop & Tablet only. Below roughly 768px wide you get a short note ("the multi-slot wall needs room to breathe") instead of a broken wall. Want to goon on mobile? That’s exactly what Goonwall Shorts is for.
What does the P/L/S mean?
That’s the orientation marker on the rail thumbnails — P is portrait, L is landscape, S is square. It’s there so you can read the shape of a clip at a glance, which matters when you’re deciding what belongs in which slot: portrait video leaves empty space either side of a wide panel. (The chip in a panel’s top-right is a different thing — that’s the streaming rendition, like 720p.)
Why does my video look softer on the wall?
Each panel streams a version sized to fit it: small panels play 480p, mid-size ones 720p, and big ones the full quality. The chip in the panel’s top-right tells you which you’re getting. Fewer screens on the wall means bigger panels, and a sharper picture.
Can I mute one slot but not the others?
Yes. Volume and mute are per-slot, not global. Muting three panels and leaving the fourth with the sound is a normal way to run a wall, you get the visual density without four soundtracks fighting each other.
Enough reading
The wall won’t build itself.
Open the player, choose a layout, hit play. It’s a lot more fun than reading about it.
